SRH playing XI vs KKR in IPL 2021: Sunrisers Hyderabad takes on Kolkata Knight Riders in their first match of IPL on Sunday. In IPL 2020 both Wridhimman Saha & Jason Holder gave good account of themselves for SRH in the limited opportunities they got. But both are uncertain to make it to SRH XI vs Kolkata team.

  • Saha scored 214 Runs in 4 Matches @ strike-rate of almost 140 and a average of 71.33
  • Holder played 7 matches – took 14 wickets @ 16 runs a piece.

SRH playing XI vs KKR in IPL 2021 – Despite of this both are uncertain to make it to playing XI for SRH. Reason, presence of few stalwarts of interernational cricket in SRH’s line-up. If SRH plays Wridhimman Saha & Jason Holder – they will have to either bench Kane Williamson or Jonny Bairstow.

As per the IPL Rules only 4 foreigners can be drafted in the playing XI and SRH has their captain David Warner, Rashid Khan as two certainties in the XI. As per the information coming in from SRH camp the other two places will go to Williamson & Bairtstow who will also do the wicket-keeping duties.

This means in all likelihood, Saha & Holder will be benched. Another big name who is unlikely to be considered is Kedar Jadhav. SRH bought Jadhav during the IPL Auction and they have to make a choice between hard hitting Samad or Jadhav in the line-up.

Warner and Bairstow to Open: Warner, Bairstow forms are one of the most feared opening pairs in the IPL and are expected to start the SRH’s innnings.

Williamson @ No. 3 and Manish Pandey @ No. 4 will be SRH’s choice.

Middle order

Young gun Priyam Garg is likely to resume his duties in the middle-order as No.5 after splendid performance in his debut IPL. Although he just scored 133 runs in 14 games, it was his 51 off 26 balls against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) that stood out.

At No.6, SRH could go for Vijay Shankar. A handy bowler, with a strong batting technique and electric fielding capabilities, he was a regular in the playing XI for the Sunrisers. He would be willing to put up more telling performances for his franchise this time around, especially after a string of bad performances in 2020.

Abdul Samad, known for his big-hitting prowess will play the role of a finisher at No.7 The fact that he gives Warner an extra bowler (leg spinner), is an added bonus which will be considered when SRH pick its playing XI.

Bowling Duties for SRH: It will be a no-brainer for SRH in this section. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is in great form and will lead the pace department. ‘Yorker King’ T Natarajan will also be entering the field with new confidence after his Australia heroics. The presence of Sandeep Sharma adds that much-needed impetus to their pace bowling attack. Rashid Khan will be SRH’s specialist spinner.

IPL 2021, SRH playing XI: David Warner (c), Jonny Bairstow, Manish Pandey, Kane Williamson, Priyam Garg, Vijay Shankar, Abdul Samad, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, Sandeep Sharma.
