In the same match in IPL 2024, SRH vs LSG, it was a totally different situation. After setting a target of 165 to Hyderabad, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head went on a rampage against Lucknow Super Giants, and achieved the target in only 9.4 overs. Who can forget those after-match scenes between KL Rahul and Sajiv Goenka.. Cut to IPL 2025, where it was a complete reversal in fortunes.
Rishabh Pant’s team picked itself up from a hard loss against DC in their first match, and put up a spirited show. First they restricted SRH to an under par 190, and then got to the target in 16.1 overs. But then Pat Cummins’ team is to blame themselves, that most of their batters failed, and so did all the bowlers.
InsideSport takes a look at individual performances of all the SRH players.
SRH Player Ratings for LSG Match
Travis Head (7/10): The Aussie batter is continuing his rich form in IPL, but then after scoring 67 in the first match, he could only score 47 vs LSG. However, he got those runs at a rapid pace, in just 28 balls, giving a decent start to his team. His innings included five fours and three sixes.
Abhishek Sharma (2/10): The SRH star had an off day in the office, with the bat and the ball. First he was dismissed by Shardul Thakur for 6, and then gave away 20 runs in two overs, that cost his side big.
Ishan Kishan Disappoints After 100
Ishan Kishan (0/10): After scoring a 100 vs RR in the first match, Ishan succumbed to a bad ball by Shardul, going down the leg side. Faintest of edges carried to the keeper Rishabh Pant, as the southpaw was out for a golden duck.
Nitish Reddy (5/10): The all-rounder did score 32 from 28, but then slowed down substantially in his innings. He could only manage to score two boundaries, which is not great, looking at his hitting prowess.
Aniket Verma, New Star in the Making
Heinrich Klaasen (4/10): Just when he was starting to tee-off, he suffered an unfortunate run-out from Prince Yadav. The ball hit the bowler’s hand and crashed into the stumps, before he scored 26 from 17.
Aniket Verma (6/10): This young boy from Jhansi just knows how to hit sixes. In his IPL career so far, he hasn’t hit any fours, but six sixes.. And on Thursday, he again hit five. Eventually he scored 36 from 13 that took his side to 190.
Abhinav Manohar (0.5/10): This batter had nothing to do in the match at all. In 6 deliveries, he could only score two, and then got out. Had he stayed there in the middle, SRH could have hoped to score 200 or 210 even.
Poor Adam Zampa and Mohammed Shami
Pat Cummins (8/10): Even though his team lost, Pat Cummins had a great outing. First he blasted three sixes in three, before getting out, and then returned with figures of 2/29 in his three overs. But that wasn’t enough to save his side for a loss.
Harshal Patel (4/10): He scored a valuable 12 from 11 lower down the order, but wasn’t as effective with his bowling. He could only bag one wicket for 28 runs. But then he took a stunning catch of Ayush Badoni.
Mohammed Shami (3/10): Shami hasn’t been bowling well in IPL 2025. In this match vs LSG, in three overs he conceded 37 runs and could only bag a wicket. He looks fit though.
Adam Zampa (2/10): Came as an impact sub in the second innings, but then failed massively. He could not contain runs, and neither could bag a lot of wickets. In the end, his figures read 1/46 in four overs.
