Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) title contention has already taken a hit. Just 4 days before the start of the IPL 2024 season, Sri Lankan spin wizard Wanindu Hasaranga has pulled out of the initial stage of the league.
With the Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka Test series starting on March 22, the same day as the IPL, Hasaranga has decided to take a U-turn on his Test retirement and has made himself available for the 2-match series. The leg-spinner announced his retirement from the longest format of the game in August last year to focus on white-ball cricket.
When will Wanindu Hasaranga return for SRH?
The 2-match Test series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will end on April 3. This means that Hasaranga will miss the first three matches of the season for the Sunrisers.
If the second match of the series, which starts on March 30, ends before than expected, the leggie can return in time to play the fourth match of the IPL 2024 season against the Chennai Super Kings on April 5 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
