SRH at IPL Auction 2025: Rs 5.15 crore left, 5 slot to fill, what do Sunrisers Hyderabad need on Day 2?

Sunrisers Hyderabad bought eight players on the first day for Rs 39.85 crore.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will be one of the happiest teams after the first day of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction. They already have five quality players (through retention), and now they’ve only added to that by bagging eight players, which include Mohammed Shami, Ishan Kishan, and Harshal Patel, among others. While this means that SRH have already secured 13 players to complete the squad (minimum 18 and maximum 25), they are just left with Rs 5.15 crore.

Batting holes to fill on Day 2 of IPL 2025 auction

Luckily, they have gotten most of their bases covered. As far as batting goes, their top order is set. They already have the destructive duo of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. The southpaw played a huge role in SRH’s success last year, and that top-order has been strengthened by the purchase of Ishan Kishan. They might look to buy another domestic top-order batter like Yash Dhull or Anmolpreet Singh (base price of Rs 30 lakh).

Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy will be their permanent middle-order batters. Now Atharva Taide and Abhinav Manohar have been added as well, but ideally, you’d like a couple of batters. One of Glenn Phillips, Rovman Powell, or Sherfane Rutherford (base price of Rs 2 crore) can do the job for them, but domestic players like Manish Pandey or Upendra Singh Yadav (base price of Rs 30 and 75 lakh) should ideally be slotted as backup as well.

Domestic spinners and pacers in need

The inclusion of Shami, Harshal, and Simarjeet Singh means that fast bowling might already be set up. But they’ll still need some backups, especially considering that the impact rule adds another player to the mix. There are quite a few options. Mukesh Choudhary, Gurnoor Singh, and Sakib Hussain will be available at the base price of Rs 30 lakh, while faster bowlers Karthik Tyagi and Umran Malik can be bagged at Rs 40 and 75 lakh.

As far as spin goes, SRH have added Adam Zampa and Rahul Chahar to the mix. But there are some additions that ideally should be made. M Siddharth might be the best option as a left-arm spinner, whose base price is Rs 30 lakh. Another good option will be all-rounder Dunith Wellalage, whose bid starts at Rs 75 lakh.

SRH’s remaining purse & slots left

Sunrisers Hyderabad have Rs 5.15 crore left in their IPL 2025 mega auction purse. They have now got 13 players and need 5 more players to fill the minimum slots (18). SRH have fulfilled half of their overseas quota. They already had Cummins, Head, Klaasen and have now added Adam Zampa to the list. Therefore, tomorrow they can’t buy more than four foreign players.
