“It would have been really nice if India had come. It would have been a step towards Cricket and Pakistan for India. This is not the generation of wars and fights. We want relationships tp get better,” Afridi was quoted by Times Now. He was speaking at a press conference for Legends League Cricket.

The former captain of Pakistan also reminisced about the time when players from both the countries visited each other. “I remembered when we came to India, we got an outstanding response. If you remember the 2005 series, Harbhajan and Yuvraj used to go shopping and to restaurants. No one used to charge them money. That’s he beauty of the two nations.”

India last visited Pakistan in 2008 for the Asia Cup. Both the countries last played in a bilateral series in Pakistan way back in 2005. Last month, BCCI secretary Jay Shah had publicly announced that Asia Cup will be moved out of Pakistan. This did not go down well with the PCB. They soon threatened to pull out of the 2023 World Cup in India.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) and the ACC are scheduled to meet on Monday in Dubai. The meeting will address the long-running dispute between both the countries on the hosting of the Asia Cup.

“I have been in contact with senior members of ACC. I have informed them about our problems. We will try and find honourable solutions to the problems,” said PCB chairman Nijam Sethi at a press conference, ahead of his departure for Dubai to attend ACC and ICC meetings.
