South Africa survived what was yet another low-scoring nightmare at the Nassau County International Cricket stadium to defeat Bangladesh in a nail-biting game. Shanto and co. looked like they had the game in their pocket in the first innings after managing to rattle the African batters. However, South Africa staged a remarkable comeback, putting up a stellar show with the ball to successfully defend the low total. With this win, the Proteas become the first side to qualify for the Super 8 stage.

Opting to bat first, South Africa got off to an awful start, losing four wickets for just 23 runs. Heinrich Klaasen once again played the role of a lone warrior for the team, top-scoring for the side with a valuable 46-run knock. Along with Miller, Klaasen managed to get South Africa to put up a formidable 113-run total on board. Tanzim Sakib picked up three wickets while Tashkin Ahmed bagged two scalps.

In reply, Bangladesh started off the run-chase in a better manner than the Proteas did. However, the duo of Rabada-Nortje put the breaks on the batters to restrict the flow of runs. At one point, the match looked quite winnable for Bangladesh. However, the Proteas bowlers managed to keep it tight till the very end, managing to pick up a four run win.
