South Africa captain Temba Bavuma has been ruled out of the IND vs SA 2nd Test due to hamstring injury. The second and final Test is scheduled to be played from January 3-7 in Cape Town.
Veteran opener Dean Elgar, who is set to play his last international game at Newlands, will lead the side in Bavuma’s absence.
Notably, Bavuma didn’t come out to bat on Day 3 of the IND vs SA 1st Test in Centurion. The 33-year-old had suffered a hamstring injury on the opening day of the Boxing Day Test while chasing to stop the ball.

Elgar captained the side in Bavuma’s absence and led the team from front as his 185 in the first innings powered South Africa towards a big lead.
The opener received good support from pacer Marco Jansen, who scored an unbeaten 84 to push hosts’ lead to 163.
Debutant Nandre Burger then led the charge as his 4-wicket haul helped bundle out India for just 131 runs to register an innings and 32 runs win on Day 3 of the Boxing Day Test.
