Cricket South Africa have announced central contracts for their players for 2025-26. 18 players have been handed contracts by the board so far, with more expected to be added to the list in the near future. Interestingly, SRH’s Heinrich Klaasen is yet to be given a contract.
No South Africa contract for Klaasen yet
As per news agency PTI, discussions on Klaasen’s contract is still ongoing and the final call will be made in due course of time. The prolific batter is a part of many T20 leagues across the globe. He is also an integral part of South Africa’s white-ball teams. It remains to be seen what decision the board will arrive at.
Miller, Dussen get special contracts
Meanwhile, David Miller and Russie van der Dussen have been given hybrid contracts.
“The hybrid contracts take into consideration the dynamic nature of modern-day cricket and will provide David (Miller) and Rassie (van der Dussen) with the opportunity to contribute to the team during specific bilateral tours and ICC events,” said CSA’s Director of National Teams and High Performance Enoch Nkwe.
New additions and upgrades
Wiaan Mulder, batter David Bedingham, and wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne have earned upgrades on the central contracts for 2025/26. Lizaad Williams, Senuran Muthusamy, and Kwena Maphaka are new additions to the list.
