Sourav Ganguly wins heart after well wishes to Wasim, Misbah, Shoaib

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has extended his best wishes to the people of Pakistan and the cricket fraternity following Pakistan’s exit from the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

After a defeat to defending champions England, Pakistan secured the 5th rank with 8 points, while England finished 7th on the tally with 6 points, concluding their campaign and securing a spot in the Champions Trophy.

Sourav Ganguly fond memories

While overseeing Delhi Capital’s training camp in Kolkata, Ganguly reminisced about India’s tour to Pakistan in 2004.

He expressed his heartfelt wishes to panellists Wasim Akram, Misbah-ul-Haq, Shoaib Malik, and Moin Khan, harking back to the camaraderie and sportsmanship shared between the two nations during the historic tour.

“I still remember that 2004 tour of Pakistan. What a tour it was; the memories are still fresh in my mind. Wasim Bhai is there, Misbah, Shoaib, and Moin Khan… Moin has grown too old; his hair has turned grey. Colour them, like we do. It will look good,” Ganguly shared in his conversation with A Sports.

Appreciation for Wasim Akram

Sourav Ganguly paid special tribute to Wasim Akram, highlighting his unfiltered and candid reactions to the performance of Pakistani players. He expressed joy at seeing the legendary cricketer spending quality time with his family after years of relentless travel.

“It’s good to see Wasim bhai at home. Earlier, it felt like he has roller skates fixed to his legs. Because someday he was in Delhi, the next day he was in Mumbai, or Pakistan or South Africa. But now he is spending some time with his family. His kids have grown up. I saw the picture of his son on Instagram. He’s more handsome than him,” Sourav Ganguly acknowledged.

“I follow the show, and I like the way Wasim bhai scolds the Pakistan players. Love to everyone,” he added, expressing his admiration for Akram’s forthrightness on the cricket show.

As the cricketing world continues to witness the ebb and flow of emotions during the ongoing World Cup, Ganguly’s well-wishes and reflections provide a glimpse into the shared history and mutual respect between cricketing nations, transcending competitive boundaries.

Delhi Capitals’ Pre-Season Camp and Rishabh Pant’s Possible Return

Sourav Ganguly, actively overseeing the pre-season camp of Delhi Capitals in Kolkata, shared insights into the team’s preparation.

Notably, he hinted at Rishabh Pant’s potential return to the cricket field during the upcoming IPL 2024 season. Pant, who survived a life-threatening car accident, is expected to make a comeback, adding a positive turn to Delhi Capitals’ prospects.
