Who will be India’s next head coach? The question has been doing rounds in the Indian cricket circuit for quite some time now, with a host of names being tossed around. A number of potential candidates have rejected the notion of taking the high-profile job on, with reports claiming former batter Gautam Gambhir being finalised for the role. However, former India captain Sourav Ganguly wrote a cryptic social media post, speaking about a coach’s role in the life of athletes. Although Ganguly has not mentioned anything about India coach, it can be assumed that he is speaking about the role.

“The coach’s significance in one’s life, their guidance, and relentless training shape the future of any person, both on and off the field. So choose the coach and institution wisely,” Sourav wrote on X.

Sourav has held various roles in the BCCI in the past, but has not moved towards coaching the Indian team like his contemporaries such as VVS Laxman or Rahul Dravid. Although Sourav has experience of monitoring a team in IPL, having managed Delhi Capitals for quite a few years now.
Notably, Sourav was replaced by Gautam Gambhir as the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL in 2011. Although there has been no report of a bad blood between them. But is his recent tweet a warning to BCCI against appointing Gautam Gambhir as India’s new head coach?
