Sony Sports gears up for Asian Games 2023, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Co to begin campaign on October 5

Gaikwad would captain young guns in the Asian Games 2023, as India would participate for the first time in a cricket event at the showpiece event.

The Asian Games 2023 schedule has been released and fans cannot contain their excitement. The cricket tournament is all set to kick off from 19 September and conclude on 8 October 2023.

In the forthcoming Asian Games 2023, both men and women’s teams will compete. The men’s team will compete in a total of 18 matches while the women’s team will battle in 14 matches on the cricket field. The seeding of the teams will be based on the ICC T20I Ranking. The 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 will take place in a T20 format.

Gaikwad will be leading a rather young Indian Brigade in Asian Games

Gaikwad would captain young guns in the Asian Games 2023, as India would participate for the first time in a cricket event at the continental showpiece event. Meanwhile, Gaikwad who is a part of the CSK squad in IPL credited his skipper MS Dhoni to hone his skills for the highest level.

The men’s cricket competition will take place from 28th September to 8th October in a T20 format. Gaikwad, having made his T20I debut in July 2021, has played nine times for the Men in Blue with an average of just over 16.

Meanwhile, the senior Indian side has reached Sri Lanka to participate in the upcoming Asia Cup. The Men in Blue will take on the arch-rivals Pakistan in their opening encounter of the marquee event. The encounter is set to be played at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on September 2 (Saturday).

Reserves: Yash Thakur, Sai Kishore, Venkatesh Iyer, Deepak Hooda, Sai Sudharsan.
