Something happened? Barmy Army celebrates Australia’s T20 World Cup exit

Afghanistan's win against Bangladesh meant that the Aussies crash out of the T20 World Cup.

Former T20 World Cup champions, Australia got knocked out from the ongoing edition after the recently completed Afghanistan vs Bangladesh match on Tuesday. After losing their previous match at the hands of India, Australia wanted Bangladesh to defeat AFG by a big margin in order to qualify for the next round.

However, Afghanistan’s win against BAN meant that the Aussies crash out of the T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, England’s Barmy Army took a dig at the Australian Cricket team through their social media post.

Australia out of T20 World Cup

As stated above, Australia wanted Bangladesh to win big against Afghanistan in order to secure a berth in the T20 World Cup semi-finals. However, the Afghani side completed a thrilling performance against the Bangla Tigers to create history by entering the T20 World Cup semi-finals for the first time.

Speaking about the match, Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat first. They managed to post 115/5 on a slow and sluggish surface with Rahmanullah Gurbaz scoring 43 in 55 balls and Rashid with an unbeaten cameo of 19 in 10 deliveries. Bangladesh had to chase the total in 12.1 overs to move through the next stage but they lost wickets at regular intervals to hamper both their and Australia’s chances to qualify for the next round.
