India all-rounder Sneh Rana is set to be back for the IND w vs AUS W 3rd ODI. Following her collision with Pooja Vastrakar during the second ODI against Australia at the Wankhede Stadium, Rana underwent scans after complaining of a headache, as confirmed by the BCCI.
Anjum Chopra, former India captain and match commentator, reported that Rana also experienced nausea. In response to the situation, Harleen Deol was designated as her concussion replacement.
The incident occurred in the 25th over of the first innings when Rana and Vastrakar collided while attempting to stop a cut by left-hand batter Beth Mooney. Both players fell to the ground as a result of the impact. Despite being taken off the field immediately and receiving ice treatment on her head from the physio, Rana returned after a couple of overs. However, coach Amol Mazumder has confirmed that Rana is all fit to return on 2nd for the third and final ODI against Australia.
“She [Rana] had a little bit of headache post the first innings,” India’s head coach Amol Muzumdar said after the match. “We felt it was appropriate for her to do the scan. The reports have been fine and she is back in the dressing room. She is still having a little bit of a headache, but that’s normal. She is available for the third match.”
Despite the collision, Rana, who had bowled four overs at the time, went on to complete her quota of ten overs. In the 37th over, she dismissed Ashleigh Gardner, concluding with figures of 1 for 59. Notably, Rana was awarded the Player of the Match in the one-off Test played between the two teams the previous week, securing seven wickets. In the first ODI, where India suffered a defeat, she also dismissed Australia opener Phoebe Litchfield.
