Indian vice-captain Smriti Mandhana has rocketed up the ICC Women’s ODI batting rankings, moving two places. She has now claimed the third spot. This impressive rise comes on the back of her phenomenal century against South Africa in the first ODI of the ongoing series in Bengaluru.
Smriti Mandhana now at 3rd, Harmanpreet drops to 11th
Mandhana’s knock of 117 not only helped India secure a win but also propelled her up the rankings. She now sits comfortably at number three with 715 points. The shuffle at the top of the rankings saw England’s Natalie Sciver-Brunt reclaim the number one position after her unbeaten 124 against Pakistan at the end of May. Sri Lankan veteran Chamari Athapaththu slipped one spot to number two as a result.
While Mandhana celebrates her rise, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur finds herself on the other side of the rankings table. After a disappointing performance against South Africa where she managed only 10 runs, Kaur has dropped out of the top ten. She now sits at number eleven with 625 points.
