Earlier on January 3, he had informed Sri Lanka cricket that he will not be able to play with the latest fitness standards coming into effect.
Rajapaksa, in his letter of resignation handed over to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), had said the decision to resign was taken after considering his family obligations. “I have very carefully considered my position as a player, husband and am taking this decision looking forward to fatherhood and associated familial obligations,” he said in his letter of resignation as per Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
He has now agreed to meet the standards of the SLC’s fitness tests.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa said he believes he would not be able to play attacking shots in case he further brings down his skinfold levels.
He is likely to be part of the SL’s Australia tour (in February). Meanwhile, Sri Lanka will host Zimbabwe for a three-match ODI series. All three matches will be played in Pallekele, with the second and third games on January 18 and January 21.
