Angelo Matthew's 46-run knock coupled with Chameera's last-ball heroics ensured Sri Lanka's win in the 1st SL vs ZIM T20I in Colombo

Sri Lanka held their nerves to produce a nail-biting final ball finish to win the 1st SL vs ZIM T20I on Sunday. Veteran Angelo Mathews played a crucial 46-run knock ensuring that the stage was set for his side to chase down the 144-run target. The visitors had the game in their hands till the last delivery of the match where Chameera took Sri Lanka past the line with a must-need boundary.

The spin duo of Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana took a couple of wickets each as the hosts reduced Zimbabwe to 143 runs at the end of the 1st innings. ZIM skipper Sikandar Raza top scored for the side with a 62-run knock.

Zimbabwe tasted success in getting rid of the top Sri Lankan order as the run chase began but it was the experienced Mathews and Shanaka who set the stage for a last-ball finish. With 2 runs needed of the final ball and Matthews having perished a couple of deliveries ago, Chameera held his nerves to strike the ball to the boundary, sealing the win for his side.
