The spin duo of Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana took a couple of wickets each as the hosts reduced Zimbabwe to 143 runs at the end of the 1st innings. ZIM skipper Sikandar Raza top scored for the side with a 62-run knock.
Zimbabwe tasted success in getting rid of the top Sri Lankan order as the run chase began but it was the experienced Mathews and Shanaka who set the stage for a last-ball finish. With 2 runs needed of the final ball and Matthews having perished a couple of deliveries ago, Chameera held his nerves to strike the ball to the boundary, sealing the win for his side.
