However, Sri Lanka will be happy with how Prabath Jayasuriya bowled. Although he could have bagged his fourth consecutive fifer but he was denied when Rajitha dropped Shafique’s catch. The visitors Pakistan started Day 3 of the first Test on a bright note as they continued their onslaught on the Lankan batters. Opener Oshada Fernando went on to score a gritty 64 while Kushal Mendis continued his fine form as he scored a fine 76. Mohammed Nawaz shone for the visitors after picking up a fifer.

Though the rest of the batters departed without scoring much, Dinesh Chandimal continued waging his lone war as he approaches his century. Sri Lanka ended Day 3 on 329/9 and therefore has a lead of 333. The first thing tomorrow that Chandimal will try, will be to score his century fast and extend Sri Lanka’s lead to the furthest.
