Pakistan at STUMPS Day 2: Pakistan were rattled early on when 1st test hero Abdullah Shafique departed for a duck. Soon, captain Babar Azam too fell for 16, leaving Pakistan at 35/2. While Imam Ul Haq and Mohammad Rizwan tried to rebuild, they too fell to Sri Lanka’s spin attack. Imam scored a fine 32 while Rizwan managed 24.

However, Pakistan could not continue to build solid partnerships as they lost wickets in regular intervals. Agha Salman was the only bright light for Pakistan as he took on the Sri Lankan spin attack, scoring his maiden Tets half-century. But with his wicket at the end of the day, Pakistan are now staring at a big first innings deficit.

Earlier, resuming at 315/6, Sri Lanka were dismissed for 378. Yasir Shah and Naseem Shah bagged three wickets each. It was Dinesh Chandimal’s 80-run knock besides Ramesh Mendis’ fighting 35 that too Sri Lanka to 378.

Earlier on Sunday, SriLanka batted extremely well to bring up 315/6 at the end of Day 1 of the 2nd Test. The hosts made a shaky start but went on to pile pressure on the visitors with wonderful knocks for the top-order batters. Angelo Mathews played well with Dinesh Chandimal who missed his century shy of 20 runs. Pakistan made a comeback in the third session of the day where they managed to pick 3 wickets.

Determined to avenge the first Test loss, SriLanka put up a mighty show against Pakistan on Day 1 of 2nd Test at Galle. The opening duo of Oshada Fernando and Skipper Dimuth Karunaratne had a shaky start but recovered well. While Fernando reached his fifty, Karunaratne fell 10 runs short. Up next Kusal Mendis departed early for 3 as Pakistan increased their grip on the game.

A magnificent knock from Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal returned the tide in favor of the hosts. Angelo Mathews in his 100th Test match missed a glorious opportunity to score a fifty, while Chandimal continued his attack. Chandimal who was in red hot form departed after a tremendous 80-run knock. Dhananjaya de Silva was the last batter to be dismissed towards the end of the play.

The Pakistan bowling hasn’t been up to the standards the visitors have showcased in the previous Test match. Mohammad Nawaz managed to pick 2 wickets while others, Naseem Shah, Nauman Ali and Yasir Shah managed to bag a wicket apeice. Pakistan will look to take early wickets tomorrow to restrict SriLanka from scoring a massive 1st innings score.
