Riding over all-round performance from their inspirational captain Tillakaratne Dilshan, Sri Lanka Legends secured their fourth win in five games. One match of the SL Legends was washed out due to rain. Chasing an improbable 214, the beleaguered Bangladesh Legends batting lineup was restricted to 143 for eight by Sri Lankan bowlers. With this loss, the Mohammad Sharif-led side ended its campaign winless.

The Bangla Tigers needed an electrifying start in the huge run chase but the openers once again let the team down and departed cheaply. Tushar Imran – who walked into the middle at one down – was the only positive with the bat for Bangladesh and scored 54-ball 52 off 50 deliveries.
Before getting dismissed, the right-handed batter hammered Dilshan for three consecutive boundaries and reached his half-century. But he could hardly find any support from the other end as no other Bangladeshi batter could pose any challenge to the quality Sri Lankan bowling line-up.
Captain Dilshan was the pick of the bowlers for Sri Lanka as he returned with figures of 3 for 26 after notching up a fine fifty earlier in the innings.
Put in to bat first, Sri Lanka Legends posted a 213 for the loss of five wickets and punctured the hopes of Bangladesh Legends to secure a win in their last game of the tournament.

Sanath Jayasuriya and Mahela Udawatte opened the innings for Sri Lanka and gave their team a sublime start. The final over of the powerplay, bowled by Tushar Imran, yielded 14 runs, including two boundaries from Jayasuriya’s bat. The southpaw was dismissed leg before by Abdur Razzak in the next over for 36 off 35 balls while trying to shuffle. He shared the opening stand of 56 runs with Mahela Udawatte.
Udawatte scored 43 off 27 balls and hit two fours and three sixes during his stay into the middle. He tried to slog sweep Elias Sunny over mid-wicket but failed to connect it well and Alok Kapali took a well-judged catch in the deep.
Soon after their skipper switched on the beast mode and played a superb reverse sweep off Sunny in the 13th over and sent the ball in the stands over covers. The next ball was hit towards the mid-wicket boundary for a four. Fans were also treated with a ‘Dilscoop’. Leading from the front, the explosive right-handed batter slammed another half-century off just 28 balls. He was dismissed soon after but the runs kept flowing in for the Sri Lankans.

Chamara Silva (34* off 24), Upul Tharanga (15 off 8), and Isuru Udana’s (10* off 2) played a good cameo as the Men in Purple posted 213 for five after being invited to bat first. 200 came up for Sri Lanka in the 20th over with a maximum from Isuru Udana’s bat over mid-wicket off Mohammad Sharif and the Lankans had all but assured themselves of another big win.
Sri Lanka Legends will now face West Indies Legends in the second semi-final of the tournament on September 29 at this venue.
