Wanindu Hasaranga (6) failed to leave a mark with the bat and Sri Lanka was left struggling at 79/4 in the 10th over of the innings. Asalanka then found the support in the form of Bhanuka Rajapaksa and the duo did not let the asking run-rate creep up too high. Both of them kept on registering boundaries at regular intervals and Sri Lanka needed just 24 runs from the final four overs. In the end, Sri Lanka registered a comfortable victory with seven balls to spare.

SL beat BAN Highlights – Earlier, opener Mohammad Naim and Mushfiqur Rahim cracked impressive half centuries to steer Bangladesh to a competitive 171 for four against Sri Lanka. Joining forces in the eighth over when their side was struggling at 56 for two, Naim and Rahim stitched a quick 73-run stand in 8.3 overs to keep the momentum going. Naim hit six boundaries in his 52-ball 62-run knock while Rahim remained unbeaten on 57 from 37 balls with the help of five fours and two sixes.

Bangladesh openers Naim and Liton Das waited for a couple of overs before playing big shots. The duo looked good for a substantial partnership before Das got out for 16 in the sixth over of the bowling of Lahiru Kumara. Das made room for himself to drive a full ball over the ring but picked mid-off fielder Dasun Shanaka. The dismissal led to an ugly scene between the batter and the bowler as the umpires had to step in to calm down the frayed
tempers.

SL beat BAN Highlights – Kumara was seen charging towards Das who responded and the duo was seen exchanging a few words with their heads almost butting each other before they were separated. There was some pushing and shoving among the players. Star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan (10) was in the thick of things as soon as he joined and hit two fours in the seventh over off
Charith Asalanka but he was clean-bowled by Chamika Karunaratne in the next over.

Both team captains at the toss
Mahmudullah: We would have batted first. We need to adapt to the conditions that we are going to face. Hopefully, it’ll be a good one to bat on. Bit of a relief after the first loss. The boys are relaxed and quite free now, hopefully, we can come out here and be disciplined. Taskin is not playing. Nasum Ahmed comes in.

Dasun Shanaka: We are going to bowl first. Our bowlers are doing a good job for us. After the IPL, the wicket is up-and-down, can’t guess what it is, that’s why we want to bowl. The environment has been really good, we are in a very good mood. The youngsters are doing a good job and they are very confident as well. We have an injury concern. Maheesh Theekshana is out. Binura Fernando comes back in.
Strap yourselves in!
