Siraj follows Rohit Sharma’s footsteps, takes stunning running back catch to dismiss Shakib Al Hasan

Rohit Sharma had claimed a one-handed stunner to dismiss Liton Das, and then Siraj followed his captain's suit soon after.

Mohammed Siraj has taken a leaf out of captain Rohit Sharma‘s book. The fast bowler isn’t exactly known as a great fielder, but following an incredible catch by his captain off his bowling, he decided to take some inspiration. In Ravinchandran Ashiwn’s first over of the day, Siraj pulled off an impressive running back catch.

A Siraj special

Peddling back from mid-off, Siraj miscalculated the trajectory of the ball, and instead of being under it, he was ahead of the ball. But, at the last moment, he leaped back and threw his hands at the ball. Not sure where the ball was, he got hold of the ball in his left hand somehow and managed to cling to it despite falling on the ground.

Shakib Al Hasan’s final Test innings?

The catch would have really stung Bangladeshi fans, as this could be Shakib Al Hasan’s last Test innings. Given that, just five sessions are left and only 6 wickets have fallen so far, Shakib might not return to play in the India vs Bangladesh 2nd Test. Moreover, there is uncertainty over the South Africa tour of Bangladesh going ahead. The chances of Shakib playing one last Test in Bangladesh (Mirpur) aren’t looking great at the moment.
