However, Raza wasn’t a happy man even though his team ended up on the winning side.
ZIM vs IRE: ‘Upset’ Raza displays all-round prowess
Speaking at the post-match presentation, Raza revealed that he was upset as he could not finish the game off for Zimbabwe. Raza picked three wickets for 28 runs in his four-over spell as ZIM restricted IRE to 147 runs in 20 overs. In reply with the bat, Sikandar Raza led his side from the front, with a valiant 65-run knock which was studded with five 4s and two 6s.
The Zimbabwe skipper was named the Player of the Match for displaying his all-round prowess. At the post-match presentation, the Zimbabwe skipper thanked the fans for their support and backed his players despite mistakes that were committed.
“Nice to be part of history. Credit to the fans as well for coming out in numbers. They got maybe 5-8 too many. Credit to Delany for the way he batted in the last over. Some mistakes here and there, but most important thing is we’ve got over the line. I was upset that I didn’t finish the game. Don’t want to leave it to the tailenders. There was a lot of good things done by the team, and I’m proud of the team. Just wanted to tell him (Madande) that if you remain positive, you’ll see the ball better and strike it better. What happens on the park, stays on the park. It was played in the right spirit“, Raza said in the post-match presentation.
