Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan equal highest opening stand in IPL History in GT vs CSK clash

Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan wrote their names in the pages of history. Both Gujarat Titans openers hammered a brilliant opening stand against Chennai Super Kings. The duo slammed their respective tons and shattered records in terms of partnerships in the history of the Indian Premier League.

It was the Golden Boy Shubman Gill who slammed his century fast, despite starting relatively slow. It took Gill just 50 deliveries to reach the 3-digit score. Sai was no different, he too slammed a huge sixer. Sai too started slowly, scoring 28 runs in 23 balls during the powerplay. But he rose to the occasion scoring 75 runs in the next 28 balls. The dangerman had a strike rate of 267.85 after the powerplay.

Highest opening stand in IPL

Carnage! Absolute carnage is what Chennai Super Kings endured at the hands of the two destructive batters. Not only did the duo slam their respective tons, they went on to level the highest opening stand record in IPL History.

Back in 2022 against KKR, LSG’s Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul slammed 210 unbeaten. But, now that record is equalled after the sheer brilliance from the GT duo.

Gill, Sudharsan shatter Multiple Records

Apart from being the joint highest pair in opening stands, the duo of Gill and Sudharsan broke quite a few records well. It was the highest opening pair in the history of Gujarat Titians. Gill added his 4th century for GT. In terms of highest partnerships in IPL History, the duo have now moved to the joint 3rd spot.

Right behind Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers’s 229 and 215* stand, there lies Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan with their knock of 210 runs, tied alongside KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock.
