India’s star batter Shubman Gill is yet to get going in the ongoing Cricket World Cup. The 24-year-old, who has been in red-hot form this year, suffered a big setback before start of World Cup as he was tested positive for dengue which forced him to miss the first couple of games.

The opener made his first appearance in the World Cup in big IND vs PAK clash in Ahmedabad on October 14 and made a fluent 11-ball 16 before getting dismissed.

Gill scored 53 and 26 in next two games against Bangladesh and New Zealand, respectively. But with big games ahead, Gill would be aiming to get back to his stunning form and he is making a special effort to achieve that.

Ahead of IND vs ENG World Cup encounter on October 29, Gill focussed on his short ball play at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

The others who attended the optional nets session were Ishan Kishan, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav.

Captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah skipped the session and opted to stay in the hotel.

Apart from the specialist batters, India’s long tail was also seen hitting the balls in the net.

Notably, Team India are in dream form in the tournament, winning all 5 games they have played so far. A win against England would make them the first team to qualify for the semi-final.
