After his unlucky dismissal in the India vs England 3rd Test, Shubman Gill has joined Indian legend MS Dhoni. His runout while batting at 91 has seen him join the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper as only the second Indian batter to get run out while batting in their 90s against England.
12 years before Shubman Gill was run out, it was Dhoni who missed his century by just one run in 2012. Unlike Dhoni, the 24-year-old was batting second and had a massive 126-run lead. The former Indian skipper was leading India at the time and was down 2-1 to England.
Going into the fourth and final match of the series in Nagpur, India needed a win to level the series. But the match ended up being a draw. However, that match was the start of new beginnings for India.
After losing that series in 2012, the India cricket team has never lost a series at home. But Shubman Gill’s untimely and similar dismissal won’t bode well if England somehow manages to win the third Test and take a 2-1 lead in the 5-match series.
