Shubman Gill’s India to leave for Zimbabwe on July 1, Jaiswal & Samson to join after T20 World Cup ends

Five members out of the 15-man squad will not travel with the team and are expected to join them directly in Zimbabwe.

The Indian cricket team will leave for Zimbabwe on July 1. The 15-man squad will assemble in Mumbai as the High-Performance Camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) ends today (June 25). Skipper Shubman Gill won’t join the team in India, as he’s yet to return home following his release from the T20 World Cup and will likely link up with the team in Zimbabwe.

Travel schedule for Jaiswal & Samson still uncertain

It’s unsure when Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Rinku Singh, and Khaleel Ahmed will join the Men in Blue, as they are still in the West Indies looking to lift the title on June 29. The four players will only travel to Harare when India’s T20 World Cup campaign comes to an end.

Dhruv Jurel and Riyan Parag left the NCA on the weekend and are currently preparing for the India vs Zimbabwe T20I series at the Rajasthan Royals’ high-performance center in Talegaon. They’ll spend about a week training there and will meet up with other players in Mumbai.

VVS Laxman, the current NCA head, will travel with the young side as the interim Indian cricket team head coach. The support staff at the NCA is also expected to accompany Laxman for the time being as the BCCI hunts for Team India’s new commander-in-chief.
