Shubman Gill hits nets ahead of IND vs PAK World Cup clash in Ahmedabad

Shubman Gill has missed two World Cup matches but he is set to be the part of the IND vs PAK match in Ahmedabad.

In a positive news for the Indian fans, opener Shubman Gill on Thursday hit the nets after a decent amount of time. The right-handed batter was seen gearing up for the upcoming IND vs PAK World Cup match at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It must be noted that Gill has already missed India’s first two matches after being down with possible dengue.

Shubman Gill was hospitalized earlier

“He’s (Gill) recovering well. Yes, he was hospitalised, but it was more though as a precaution. He’s back in the hotel in Chennai and is recovering well. So, he’s being monitored by the medical team. We are hoping that he will recover soon and would be looking good,” India’s batting coach Vikram Rathour had said before the Afghanistan game.

Shubman is key to India’s chances of winning the World Cup. He has scored five hundreds in 2023, starting with a double hundred against New Zealand at home. He hit another one against them and then smashed another vs Sri Lanka at Thiruvananthapuram. Shubman hit on hundred vs Bangladesh during Asia Cup 2023 and also hit one vs Australia in September.

Insidesport

Shubman’s sister Shahneel Gill was spotted at the airport while he was leaving for Ahmedabad. She has been with Shubman all through his illness which caused him to miss the World Cup, taking care of every little that he may have needed.

Meanwhile, the India vs Pakistan clash will be played on October 14 (Saturday) at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Men in Blue will be looking to continue their winning streak against Babar Azam and Co.
