Shubman Gill ditches break, practises under father’s supervision ahead of Dharamsala Test

While India Cricket Team are on a short break before IND vs ENG Dharamsala Test, Shubman Gill is polishing his skills under father's guidance.

While all the players are on a break ahead of the final IND vs ENG Test, Shubman Gill has returned to basics. He has ditched break and is practising under father Lakhwinder Singh’s supervision before the Dharamsala Test. Many others including captain Rohit Sharma are busy attending Anant Ambani’s pre-wedding bash in Jamnagar.

But before arriving in Dharamsala on March 4, Shubman Gill is polishing his skills. In his formative years, his father was his coach and continues to guide him. He is his staunch critic and also biggest supporter.

The youngster has returned to form and played a match-winning knock of 52 in the Ranchi Test.

Shubman Gill is back

After 23 & 0 in the first two innings of IND vs ENG Test series, Shubman Gill received an ultimatum from Rahul Dravid & Co. He either had to succeed in the 2nd Test or should return to domestic cricket and play Ranji Trophy.

Shubman had all but decided to go back and play Ranji Trophy for Punjab. He even informed his family about that. But a century in Vizag gave him a new lease of life after averaging just 17.30 in his 11 previous innings.

However, the Vizag ton not only gave him confidence but also his form back. Since the ton, Shubman Gill has scored 0, 91, 38 and 52 in his last four innings. His patient 52-run knock off 124 deliveries and a 72-run unbeaten stand with Dhruv Jurel helped India win the IND vs ENG 4th Test and seal the series.

Now, before IPL, Shubman would aim to finish the Test winter on a high in Dharamsala which may not be friendly to batting.
