Shubman Gill fails to score in Ranji Return

The BCCI had made it clear to the Indian stars that taking part in domestic cricket is mandatory. As a result, the players have all returned to their state associations to take part in the Ranji Trophy. Shubman Gill who had a disappointing outing in the Border Gavaskar Trophy was also no exception to the rule.

In Australia, he managed to score just 93 runs from 5 innings. And with the ICC Champions Trophy looming on the horizon, hopes were high for the ace batter to quickly return to form. But the Punjab captain’s stay on the crease was very short as he was dismissed after scoring just 4 runs.

Shubman Gill began his innings on a fine not, dispatching bowler Abhilash Shetty for a boundary. But it was the bowler who eventually had the last laugh. Gill was trapped by the keeper as he had to walk back with his head hung low as his red ball form continues to be poor.
