Shubman Gill discharged from Chennai hospital, likely to miss IND vs PAK clash

Shubman Gill discharged from Chennai hospital, likely to miss IND vs PAK clash

Given Shubman Gill's stellar performance history at the Narendra Modi Stadium while representing the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League, the opener will be greatly missed.

Shubman Gill, who had been admitted into a Chennai hospital due to dengue fever, has been given a clean bill of health from the hospital. The India opener was being treated by medical professionals at Kauvery Hospital after being hospitalised on Monday morning. Gill who will miss out on India vs Afghanistan clash in Delhi is also now a suspect in the high-octane India vs Pakistan (IND vs PAK) ICC World Cup fixture in Ahmedabad this Saturday.

The young opener, who missed India’s opening World Cup game against Australia on Sunday, is also receiving treatment from Dr. Rizwan Khan, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) doctor who has been travelling with the squad.

According to information obtained by Cricbuzz, Gill’s platelet count has been low for some time, which is why he did not go with the team to Delhi, where India’s upcoming match against Afghanistan is set to take place.

The team management was advised medically to steer clear of flying while the platelet count was low. The BCCI confirmed in a statement earlier on Monday that Shubman Gill won’t be available for the Delhi encounter.

Shubman Gill unlikely for IND vs PAK

Since their arrival in Chennai on October 4, few members of the Indian squad are said to have seen Shubman Gill. Initially, he was at the team hotel, where Kaveri Hospital medical staff were testing his blood and keeping an eye on his platelet count.

Gill’s availability for the high-stakes game against Pakistan (IND vs PAK) on Saturday in Ahmedabad is still unknown.

Insidesport

The team management is expecting that Gill will be healthy enough to play in IND vs PAK as his absence on Sunday night was greatly noticed. Given Shubman Gill’s stellar performance history at the Narendra Modi Stadium while representing the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League, the opener will be greatly missed.

According to sources, if Gill’s condition becomes better, he might be released from the hospital and go back to the hotel. He might take a direct flight to Ahmedabad to re-join the team if things go well with his health.
