Mumbai batter Shreyas Iyer’s form is beginning to worry Mumbai and Kolkata Knight Riders fans alike. The batter on Sunday failed to get significant runs on the board once again, getting out to Umesh Yadav in the first innings of the Ranji Trophy final. Iyer has been in dismal form in the last few weeks, and coming back to domestic cricket has not helped the batter up till now.
Iyer has been enduring a bad patch since the last weeks. He was axed from the Indian team after an ordinary outing in the first two Tests of the series. Sarfaraz Khan, coming into the Indian team in his place, smashed three half-centuries in the series, adding to the misery of Iyer.
Iyer joined the Mumbai team for their semi-final against Tamil Nadu but could only score three runs off 8 balls before getting out. He had his chance to make his mark in the final against Vidarbha but threw his wicket to veteran Umesh Yadav needlessly after spending some time at the crease.
Iyer, batting on seven runs, tried to chase a ball way outside off stump from Umesh Yadav and was caught at the slips by Karun Nair. It marked another disappointing chapter in his bid to get back in form before IPL 2024.
