Shreyas Iyer departs for silver duck in IPL 2024 comeback in KKR vs SRH clash

KKR vs SRH: Not the return Shreyas Iyer was expecting, Kolkata Knight Riders captain departs for duck against SRH

Not the comeback that Shreyas Iyer was expecting. The Kolkata Knight Riders skipper was dismissed for a silver duck in the KKR vs SRH clash at the Eden Gardens. Making his return to IPL after missing last season, Iyer faltered and gave away a simple catch to Pat Cummins, much to the disappointment of the Kolkata fans.

The times have not been fair for Shreyas Iyer. He got snubbed midway from the India Cricket Team in the IND vs ENG Test series. Iyer complained of a back injury while the NCA declared him to be fit. He then went on to miss Ranji Trophy games and was subsequently denied BCCI Central Contracts for 2023-24.

Shreyas Iyer, making a comeback as the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders, found himself heading to the pitch after early departure of Venkatesh Iyer. But Iyer had a very short stay. He defended the first ball and then went on to give away a simple catch to rival captain Pat Cummins of a T Nataranjan delivery.

Shreyas Iyer looked frustrated after his dismissal. But it was his lacklustre shot selection that led to his downfall. A perfectly pitched length ball from Natarajan saw Iyer determined to hit over the covers. He casually attempted to go up and over the covers as he mistimed the shot.

Pat Cummins took a simple catch as T Natarajan celebrated his 50th wicket in IPL. And, Shreyas Iyer’s fortune sees no change.
