Shreyanka Patil won’t feature for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Women in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 season. The off-spinner had been undergoing rehabilitation for a shin injury at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) since returning from the T20 World Cup 2024 and it was recently reported that there are still question marks over her fitness.
WPL 2025: Sneh Rana replaces injured Shreyanka Patil
Shreyanka has been ruled out of the WPL 2025 season. Last edition’s Purple Cap and Emerging Player of the Season winner had already missed India’s home season (against Ireland and West Indies) and the Australia tour. Considering all all of this, the news isn’t exactly a shock.
The RCB Women have brought in a like-for-like replacement for her in Sneh Rana, who had went unsold in the WPL 2025 auction. Rana has apparantely already joined the camp and will be paid Rs 30 lakh by the RCB. Patil wasn’t named in RCB Women’s opening clash against the the Gujarat Giants at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara.
Then a little while later, Shreyanka posted online. “Heartbroken, but I will fly again,” she wrote. This virtually confirmed that she was ruled out and less than 24 hours later, RCB has provided her replacement. The shin injury will take longer to recover now and now Shreyanka will hope that she regains fitness for the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025.
