Should’ve bowled England for 200: Ex-England player feels Rohit Sharma missed the trick on Day 1

England were 112/5 at one point and went on to score 190 runs by the end of the day for the loss of just two wickets.

Has Rohit Sharma missed the trick by allowing England to score 302 on Day 1? Former England batter Owais Shah feels that the visitors have gained the upper hand in the India vs England 4th Test. After having Ben Stokes and co. at 112/5, Joe Root’s resistance, along with wicketkeeper Ben Foakes, has seen England end Day 1, 302/7.

After the day’s play, Owais expressed his opinion that the Indian skipper might have let England slip away. While talking with JioCinema, he said:

“I feel they would already be uncomfortable because, considering where they were before lunch, India might be thinking that they should have bowled England out close to 200. Now that they have reached 300, it’s been an excellent fightback from England.”

On how Rohit Sharma can bring his side back into the match on Day 2 of the Ranchi Test, Shah said:

“Tomorrow’s morning session will be extremely crucial for India because if they don’t pick up early wickets, the first-inning score could be 350 or even 400.”
