The Rajasthan Royals (RR) were on top of the points table until a week ago. They were in a prime position to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoffs with 3-4 matches still left. But two consecutive losses have pulled them back a bit, and they’ve lost their top spot to the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Donovan Ferreira minces no words about RR’s playoffs qualification
Set to face the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on May 12, their overseas all-rounder, Donovan Ferreira, said that they should have already qualified by now. Ferreira played his first IPL match on May 7 and managed to score just 1 run. Before the CSK vs RR match, the South African opened up about RR’s wish to make the playoffs with a win against CSK at the Chepauk Stadium.
In the pre-match press conference, Ferreira said, “We should have already qualified for the playoffs by now. But the IPL is a long tournament, and obviously, the second half is important.”
Latest on RR
“We had set out nicely by winning most of the games in the first half, and this game is quite important. We have three games left, but we don’t want to leave it too late and put pressure on ourselves.”
“If we win this game, it will give us an even better chance of finishing first or second. Anyone playing against Chennai knows they are a good team. The past few games have been close, and these small margins can go either way. But hopefully, we can get over the line tomorrow by playing the brand of cricket that we have been playing,” Donovan Ferreira concluded.
