Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has taken a sly dig at cricket experts, including himself, for making predictions. Before the start of the first session of the IND vs SA 2nd Test, Manjrekar and fellow expert Piyush Chawla had made their prediction about how many wickets Jasprit Bumrah and co. would pick up in the opening session.
Sanjay Manjrekar predicted that the India cricket team would take three wickets, while Chawla asserted that four wickets would fall in the opening session. However, Mohammed Siraj had other things in mind.
With Siraj taking 6 wickets and Bumrah and Mukesh Kumar scalping two wickets each, India dismissed South Africa in the space of 23.2 overs in the first session.
After the innings ended, the lunch break was taken. With egg on his face, Sanjay Manjrekar took a potshot at himself and other cricket experts.
“We should be sacked for poor prediction,” said the cricketer turned commentator during the mid-innings show.
