The Indian Premier League is a serious affair for Indian cricket fans. Every team in IPL have their dedicated set of supporters, and arguments between supporters of different teams are common. However, these arguments sometimes lead to fatal consequences, as a Chennai Super Kings supporter recently found out. 63-year old Bandopant Bapuso Tibile died after being hit by two Mumbai Indians supporters when he celebrated the wicket of MI’s Rohit Sharma during the SRH vs MI match, according to a report from Lokmat Times.
The victim and the accused were watching the match on TV together in a village in Kolhapur on March 27th when the unfortunate incident took place. The deceased has been identified as Hanmantwadi resident Bandopant Bapuso Tibile, 63. The accused, Sagar Sadashiv Jhanjage (35), and Balwant Mahadev Jhanjage (50), both of Hanmantwadi, have been taken into custody.
Chennai Super Kings supporter Bandopant Tibile began a celebration after Mumbai Indians player Rohit Sharma was dismissed while chasing a big score of 278.
Balwant and Sagar Jhanjage, the furious accusers, struck him on the head with sticks. Tibile instantly lost consciousness after suffering severe injuries in the incident. They hurried him to the hospital. On March 31, though, he passed away from his wounds while receiving treatment.
Police registered a case against both the suspects and arrested them. Further investigation into this case is going on.
