England spinner Shoaib Bashir emerged as the star of the day with the ball for the visitors on Day 2 of IND vs ENG 4th Test. Making his return at Ranchi, Bashir managed to grab four wickets as India’s top-order crumbled. He finished with figures of 4-84 after a 32-over long spell.
IND vs ENG 4th Test: Bashir shines as India recover in Ranchi
Bashir’s first victim for the day was Shubman Gill (38). His next victim was Rajat Patidar(17), who was trapped just like his predecessor. Southpaw Jadeja soon joined his teammates back in the pavilion as the spinner struck yet again.
His fourth and final victim was fiery opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. The southpaw had to depart after an outstanding 73-run knock. Bashir’s spell put the breaks on India’s batting order as they struggled to reach anywhere close to the lead.
India finish at 219-7, trailing England by 134 runs in the 1st innings. Dhruv Jurel (30*) and Kuldeep Yadav (17*) stay unbeaten as the hosts will look to extend the lead on Day 3 before bowling again.
Starting from overnight’s score of 302/7, Ollie Robinson continued his fine for. He hammered his maiden Test fifty. But England’s happiness was short-lived. Ravindra Jadeja came back strongly to scalp 3 quick wickets to finish his four-fer. England ended their first innings with a big score of 353.
