Mumbai all-rounder Shivam Dube has been ruled out of the remainder of the Ranji Trophy owing to an injury. Dube has sustained a bilateral side strain which he picked up in the side’s previous game against Assam. The squad for Mumbai’s quarterfinals clash with Baroda will be picked on Tuesday.
Shivam Dube’s injury, Musheer Khan’s gain
As per TOI, Dube suffered a grade 1 tear that forced him to stay off the field in the 2nd innings against Assam. U19 star Musheer Khan is most likely to be named his replacement.
“Dube has a bilateral side strain injury and is likely to be out of the rest of the Ranji Trophy season. He suffered an injury while batting in the last match against Assam, and he didn’t come out to field in Assam’s 2nd innings at BKC. He has a grade one tear. Musheer Khan is likely to be his replacement,” a source told TOI.
Dube has 405 runs to his name from five Ranji games this season. He averages 67.83 in the current season with two centuries and two fifties to his name. He played an unbeaten 121-run knock in the game against Assam where he was injured.
Musheer already has three FC games to his name, where he has scored 96 runs, and picked up two wickets. His more recent form, for the U-19 has been impressive too. Come the World Cup, he scored 360 runs at an average of 60, and ended the tournament as second-highest run-scorer.
