Shikhar Dhawan believes India “well-prepared” to complete “hat-trick” of BGT wins in Australia

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) will commence on November 22, with India and Australia taking on each other in Perth.

Following an embarrassing Test series whitewash against New Zealand, the Indian cricket fans are worried on what could happen in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT). Despite the New Zealand’s , former Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan opines that the Rohit Sharma-led side are “well-prepared” to make it a hat-trick of series win Down Under.

New generation is confident: Dhawan on BGT

While speaking to the Times of India, Dhawan asserted his confidence on the young Indian team, that features the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Sarfaraz Khan and Akash Deep. Dhawan said that he believes India will go to Australia with a winning mindset and would be confident enough to beat the mighty Aussies.

I believe we have a solid chance to bag a hat-trick of title wins in Australia. We’ve done exceptionally well in the last two series there. I’m sure the team will go to Australia with a positive, winning mindset. Rohit, Virat, and even Bumrah have played extensively in Australia, and they’ll share their experiences with the younger players. This new generation is confident, motivated, and eager to perform. They’ve established themselves quickly on the international stage, which is a tremendous advantage for us in Australia. And though pace is always a challenge there, our batters are well-prepared to handle it.

Can India really win BGT?

While Dhawan surely has enough confidence on the Indian Test team, the current bunch of players haven’t done anything major during the home season. Bangladesh gave a tough fight before New Zealand completely crushed the wrecking ball of India.

Australia, meanwhile, will be on their revenge tour after losing the 2018/19 and 2020/21 series. While a dogged Virat Kohli-led team bamboozled an Australian team sans Warner and Steve Smith, the 2020/21 series was an all-timer. India missed bulk of their star players but still managed to outclass a first-choice Australia team.

The India-Australia Test series is set to begin on November 22nd in Perth. The second Test will be a day-night match in Adelaide from December 6th to 10th. The series then moves to Brisbane for the third Test from December 14th to 18th. The traditional Boxing Day Test will be held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground from December 26th to 30th. The final Test of the series will take place in Sydney from January 3rd.
