Sheer pace or glitch? Netizens confused as Karthik Tyagi clocks 161 kmph in SMAT

Express pacer Karthik Tyagi also scalped one wicket in the UP vs Gujarat Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) match.

Pacer Karthik Tyagi was bowling with some speed in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) match between Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. Karthik Tyagi regularly touched the 150+ km/h mark as one of his deliveries also hit veteran Piyush Chawla on his head. Meanwhile, one of the delivery bowled by Tyagi clocked 161 km/h as netizens on social media lauded the express pacer for his sheer pace.

Karthik Tyagi scalped one wicket against Gujarat

Playing in the pre-quarter final 1 of the SMAT on Tuesday, Tyagi”s express pace and pinpoint accuracy were on full display. Apart from that, Karthik Tyagi also got the wicket of Hemang Patel. Apart from Tyagi, other UP bowlers also bowled exceptionally well. Senior pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the top performer with figures of 3/21 in his four overs. LSG pacer Mohsin Khan also complemented the duo brilliantly, picking up 2 wickets and conceding only 13 runs in his spell.

Thanks to their brilliance performance with the ball, Uttar Pradesh restricted Gujarat for just 127/8 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, the UP batters chased down the total quite easily with six wickets and eight balls to spare.

Speaking more on Karthik Tyagi, the right-arm pacer has bowled some decent spells in the IPL as well. However, only time will tell if Tyagi’s consistent outings in the domestic arena will earn him a permanent spot in the national squad. But if recent form is any indicator, India might be witnessing the rise of its next pace sensation.
