‘Shattering experience’: Ravi Ashwin opens up after suffering humiliating 3-whitewash against Kiwis

New Zealand handed India a 3-0 loss in Test series and became the first team to do so against Rohit Sharma and Co

The India Cricket Team was recently left battered and bruised by New Zealand. The Kiwis came to India and went on to inflict a humiliating 3-0 whitewash to Rohit Sharma and Co. And with the IND vs AUS Test series on the horizon, Ravichandran Ashwin opened up claiming that the whitewash loss was a shattering experience for him.

India was handed dominant losses at Bengaluru, Pune, and Mumbai in the IND vs NZ Test series. India was completely overpowered in spin-friendly tracks as the Kiwis reigned supreme. And with this win, the Black Caps went on to become the first team to beat India 3-0 away from home.

Don’t know how to respond – Ravi Ashwin

Ravi Ashwin went on to reveal that he didn’t know how to respond to the 3-0 loss. He claimed that he read that such a feat had never happened previously in Indian cricketing history. Naturally, Ashwin claimed that he didn’t know how to react for 2-3 days after the series loss humiliation.

“We have been hit by a 3-0 loss to New Zealand. I read that it has never happened in India in history. I don’t know how to react or react to it. I know that in my career and in my experience in cricket, we don’t have so many emotions when we play. But it’s a very shattering experience. That’s the right word for it. I didn’t know how to react or respond to it for the last 2-3 days,” Ravi Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.

While it was a complete failure from all departments of the team, Ashwin took the blame on himself too. He claims he couldn’t contribute much with the bat. He claimed that he tried doing his best, but that unfortunately wasn’t enough.

“I expect a lot from myself. I am a guy who says I am the reason for everything that went wrong. I am also a big reason and a big part of it (series loss). I couldn’t contribute to the lower order runs. As a bowler, I know that runs are a vital currency for a bowler. I started well in many places, then I threw it away on a couple of occasions. I put my best but it wasn’t enough,” Ashwin concluded
