Indian all-rounder Shashank Singh, who has been retained by the Punjab Kings for Rs 5.5 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, spills the beans of the team’s probable playing XI for IPL 2025. In Shubhankar Dwivedi’s podcast on YouTube, the player has finished the speculations over Jos Inglis’ exclusion from the playing XI, explaining the whole scenario.
The probable openers
According to Shashank, Australian wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis is expected to open the innings with uncapped Indian batter Prabhsimran Singh. Both players were retained by Punjab, with Prabhsimran secured for Rs 4 crore. They are set to give PBKS a strong start at the top of the order.
Strong middle order
The team’s captain, Shreyas Iyer, will bat at number three and was a prized signing for PBKS at Rs 26.75 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction. Following him, Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell are set to bat at numbers four and five, respectively. Stoinis was signed for Rs 11 crore, and Maxwell for Rs 4.20 crore.
Lower Order and Key Players
Shashank himself will be batting at number six, while Nehal Wadhera will take on the role of the finisher at number seven. South African all-rounder Marco Jansen, who was acquired for Rs 7 crore, will bat at number eight. The team’s bowling lineup will feature Harpreet Brar, Arshdeep Singh, and Yuzvendra Chahal. PBKS used the Right to Match (RTM) card to retain Arshdeep for Rs 18 crore and spent another Rs 18 crore for Yuzvendra Chahal, who is the all-time leading wicket-taker in IPL history.
