“Shaped me into the player I am today” – Parag pays heartfelt tribute to Kohli on his 36th birthday

“Shaped me into the player I am today” – Parag pays heartfelt tribute to Kohli on his 36th birthday

Kohli had handed Parag his ODI cap on August 7 in Colombo.

Riyan Parag has paid a heartfelt tribute to his idol, Virat Kohli. The 22-year-old has previously revealed his adoration for the former Indian skipper and has credited Kohli for being the reason behind his success as a cricketer. On his idol’s 36th birthday, Parag penned a beautiful note on his Instagram account.

Thank you for being a true legend: Riyan Parag

Parag grew up watching Kohli play and win matches for India. He’d wished to replicate his idol, i.e., play for the Men in Blue and help Team India to glory. He was lucky enough to interact with the modern great during the IPL, but to get the chance to share the field and the dressing room with Kohli for India will be a memory he’ll carry throughout his life.

Everyone dreams of meeting one’s idol. But to not only meet them but work/play alongside them would be one of the biggest achievements of your life. Parag has successfully done that, much like Kohli had also achieved with his idol, Sachin Tendulkar

Parag was also lucky enough to get his ODI cap from Kohli in Sri Lanka a couple of months back. To get the cap from the greatest ever ODI batter of all time would also be a cherished memory that Parag would tell his grandchildren about.

“Happy Birthday to the greatest of all time! Your passion, aggression, and unmatched work ethic have not only set the standard in cricket but have also shaped me into the player I am today. Watching you play has been an inspiration, but sharing the field with you is a memory I will carry with me forever. Thank you for being a true legend, on and off the field. Here’s to many more years of greatness!” Parag wrote for Kohli.
