Rajasthan Royals captains list
Shane Warne (IPL 2008-2011)
Shane Warne was the first Rajasthan Royals captain. RR also won the first-ever IPL conducted under Warne’s leadership. He went on to lead RR till IPL 2011 before he announced his retirement from the tournament.
Rahul Dravid (IPL 2011-2013)
Veteran Rahul Dravid was the first Indian to lead Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. Dravid led the side for 2 seasons, and he led the team to the playoffs in 2013.
Shane Watson (IPL 2014-2015)
Watson, in the initial years, was the vice-captain and the stand-in skipper for the Royals. Batting top of the order, Shane Watson played some match defining knocks for the Royals.
Ajinkya Rahane (IPL 2018)
Rahane was appointed captain in 2018. Under his leadership, the Rajasthan Royals managed to secure the fourth position in that edition.
Steve Smith (IPL 2019-2020)
Former Australian skipper Steve Smith also captained RR in IPL. Under his captaincy, Rajasthan Royals played 44 matches and won 28 of them.
Sanju Samson (IPL 2021-2024)
Current Rajasthan Royals captain, Sanju Samson will be looking to etch history in IPL 2024. Under his leadership, the Royals reached the final match of IPL 2022. However, they lost the final against Gujarat Titans.
