Former England cricketer David Lloyd has questioned Shan Masood’s style of captaincy and has claimed that the player was more of a reactive skipper than a proactive one. His remarks come days ahead of the three-match PAK vs ENG series where the hosts aim to break free from the shackles of poor form. Shan Masood retained captaincy after facing a historic 2-0 series defeat at the hands of Bangladesh earlier in August.
“Shan Masood not a proactive captain”
In an interview with a local news platform, Llyod drew a parallel between Masood and other Pakistan captains and explained how he was unlike them. He opined that Shan was not the right person to lea Pakistan and believes that a captain would need to be proactive in order to tackle the Bazball threat. The PAK vs ENG Test series will get underway from October 7 with Multan hosting the first game.
“Shan Masood is a reactive captain, not a proactive captain. I have seen his captaincy for Yorkshire. He is not like Pakistan’s former captains Imran Khan, Javed Miandad, Wasim Akram, Inzamam-ul-Haq, or Misbah-ul-Haq,” David Llyod said.
