West Indies pace sensation Shamar Joseph has nominated himself for the Big Bash League (BBL) Draft. After grabbing eyeballs with his heroics in Gabba last year, the pacer is inclined to return to the continent, this time to be a part of a franchise. Cricket Australia unveiled the first list of nominated players which comprised of 20 stars, including Shamar Joseph.
Shamar Joseph wants to play in BBL
Joseph is well remembered for steering West Indies to a historic win at the Gabba last year with his 7/68 spell in the 4th innings. The Caribbean has represented other franchises in rival T20 leagues as well, including the Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2024 and Dubai Capitals in the ILT20.
Shamar Joseph, even if he is picked up in the BBL draft, will not be available to play the finals as it coincides with West Indies’ series against Pakistan in January 2025.
Nearly 600 overseas players have nominated for this season’s Big Bash Drafts, including England opener Alex Hales and Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Lockie Ferguson, Haris Rauf and Jason Roy are some of the other players who have expressed interest in being a part of BBL.
