Shamar Jospeh turned the clock back on Thursday to put up a Gabba-like performance in the WI vs SA 2nd Test in Guyana. The West Indies pacer helped the side to create history in his debut series by sungle-handedly leading them to a historic win at the Gabba, Brisbane. Now, he intends to replicate the feat in Guyana and he did so in the first leg of the game with a ferocious fifer.

Opting to bat first, South Africa got off to an awful start with Jayden Seales removing opener Tony di Zorzi was just one run. And then the Shamar Joseph show begun. He got rid of Aiden Markram (14) and skipper Temba Bavuma (0) within three deliveries to put the Proteas on the backfoot.
He returned to haunt South Africa once again ten overs later as he removed a well-set David Beddinham (28). Verreynne (21) and Keshav Maharaj (0) were Shamar Jospeh’s final victims as he completed his third five-wicket haul (5/33) and the second Carribbean bowler to do so in Guyana.

South Arica were bundled out for 160 runs at the end of their 1st innings, with Seales grabbing three wickets and Holder & Motie bagging one scalp each. However, despite a strong show with the ball, West Indies saw a batting order collapse, throwing away the advantage they created for themselves earlier in the day.
At stumps on Day 1 of WI vs SA 2nd Test, the hosts were stuck in a perilous position at 97/7. They trail the Proteas by 63 runs. A total of 17 wickets fell on Day 1 of the game in Guyana.
