Shakib Al Hasan, the renowned Bangladesh all-rounder, is uncertain about his participation in the upcoming India vs Bangladesh series. The series, scheduled from September 19 to October 12, includes two Tests and three T20Is. This uncertainty follows Bangladesh’s tour of Pakistan in August, where they will play a two-match Test series.
Focus on T20 Leagues: Shakib Al Hasan
Shakib al Hasan, who departed for the USA on July 1 to play for the Los Angeles Knight Riders in the Major League Cricket, stated that his current plans only extend to the Pakistan tour.
“I don’t have many plans. There are two T20 tournaments ahead: the MLC and the Global T20 League in Canada. I’ll reassess my position after these tournaments,” Shakib told reporters before leaving for the USA as per Cricbuzz.
He emphasised the need for short-term planning given his age and experience. “Planning for three to six months is more realistic for me now, and I’ll decide on my next steps after the Pakistan series,” he added.

Taskin Ahmed apology confirmed by Shakib
In related news, Shakib Al Hasan confirmed that pace bowler Taskin Ahmed had apologised to his teammates for missing the team bus ahead of their Super 8 clash against India in the ICC T20 World Cup. Taskin’s tardiness led to his late arrival at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua, missing the game against India.
“The team bus leaves at a fixed time, and if a player misses it, they must find alternate transportation. Taskin arrived just minutes before the toss, making it impossible to include him in the playing XI,” Shakib explained. “Taskin apologised to the team, and everyone accepted it as an honest mistake.”

Future Plans and Senior Farewells
BCB President Nazmul Hasan indicated that the board is planning a fitting farewell for senior players Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, and Mahmudullah, who are nearing the end of their careers.
“We have full confidence in our senior players, but it’s important to ensure a proper end to their journeys with Bangladesh cricket. They’ve contributed immensely, and their farewells should reflect their service,” Nazmul concluded.
