Pakistan’s premier fast bowler, Shaheen Shah Afridi set a major milestone during PAK vs BAN Cricket World Cup clash at Eden Gardens on Tuesday. The 23-year-old became the quickest pacer to complete 100 wickets in ODI cricket.
With his 2nd wicket of the day, Shaheen Afridi completed the 100-wicket milestone in his 51st match. The talented young pacer, also became the quickest bowler to reach 100 ODI wickets for Pakistan. Afridi surpassed legendary Pakistan off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq, who achieved this milestone in 53 matches.
Previously, Shaheen overtook former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir and became the Pakistani left-arm pacer with the most international wickets, just behind Wasim Akram.
Talking about the game, Pakistan pacers have put the team in driver’s seat earlier in the game after reducing Bangladesh to 23/3 in 6 overs. Earlier, Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and opted to bat in a must-win clash.
Notably, both Pakistan and Bangladesh are in a must-win situations in the ongoing World Cup. While Pakistan are currently at 7th place, Bangladesh are languishing at 9th place and are in danger of missing out on Champions Trophy 2025 spot.
